Final touches are being put on plans for the three-day Clovis High School All-Class Reunion, set for June 3, 4 and 5 in Old Town Clovis.
The all-class gathering is held every 10 years, in years ending in the number six, continuing a tradition established 90 years ago. The reunion is open to anyone who ever attended Clovis High.
This year’s event will feature a variety of activities, starting with registration and a rally Friday night, June 3, and continuing through a memorial service Sunday morning. A parade through Old Town Clovis will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, followed by a CHS faculty reception and presentation of Distinguished Alumni Awards. Individual class gatherings will be held throughout the weekend, with a major all-ages dance Saturday night. A vintage car show for alumni will take place all day Saturday.
As many as 10,000 people have attended previous reunions. Funding for two Alumni Association scholarships per year, for the next 10 years, is the primary objective of the event. The registration fee is $25, which covers all activities.
All events will be held at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District conference center this year. The vintage car show will be in the park adjacent to the memorial building. The Sunday service will be in the Memorial Building theatre.
The keynote speaker for the memorial service will be CHS alumnus Kevin Cookingham. An alumni choir, directed by alumnus Dan Lindstrom, will sing.
Several alumni have been nominated for the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Confirmed, so far, are Kate T. Scott, a Bay area radio and television sports commentator, and Jenna Prandini, a world-class sprinter currently training for the 2016 Olympics.
